Just when you thought you’d explored every corner of the Cardsmiths Currency universe… something unexpected emerges from the woods.
Introducing the Cryptoids — a mysterious and ultra-rare set of inserts tucked deep inside Cardsmiths Currency and Cardsmiths Space products. Whether you’re a hardcore fan of cryptozoology or just love the thrill of the hunt, these elusive cards add a fascinating twist to the series.
What Are the Cryptoids?
Unlike the standard Currency series, these are not part of the main set and were never advertised as a core feature — making them a true easter egg for collectors.
Bigfoot was the first design of Cryptoids that came with Cardsmiths Currency. It’s a mini-subset of unique designs, each depicting legendary cryptid creatures in the style of Currency’s signature artistic presentation.
Loch Ness Monster and Mothman were introduced in 2025 with the Cardsmiths Space line. They follow the same variant logic.
The Designs
It’s too early to tell exactly how many of these will exist, but to date, four different cards for each design (Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Mothman) have been found.

The Variants
Each of the Bigfoot designs comes in four variants, which can be distinguished by a golden etching (the “Regular” does not have any etching).

To date, the 4 below variants have been pulled:
- Regular
- Artist Proof
- Prototype
- Test Card
