Cardsmiths’ Currency Series 5 is set to launch this October, bringing a deeper and more challenging collection experience for both longtime fans and new collectors.
This latest installment expands on all fronts: more cards, more variants, more exclusive inserts, and cryptocurrency redemptions across four major coins.
Release Schedule
- Mega Boxes – Early October
- Collector Boxes – Late October
This is the first time the release has been split across product types, with Collector Boxes arriving a few weeks after Megas.
A Larger Set with Increased Complexity
Series 5 features an expanded 120-card checklist, up from 90 in the previous core sets. This added breadth, combined with a growing number of variant types, makes completing master sets significantly more difficult, but also more customizable for focused collectors, such as those chasing particular gems or subjects.
The Most Comprehensive Gemstone Refractor Lineup Yet
The Gemstone Refractor™ line continues to grow in Series 5, introducing new stones and print runs that are sure to shift collector priorities.
Confirmed Gems and Print Runs:
- Tanzanite – new this series, /299
- Blue Topaz – previously seen in the SPACE set, now added to Currency, /199
In addition, four more Topaz variants are confirmed, though details remain limited:
- Mystic Topaz
- Imperial Topaz
- Pink Topaz
- Twilight Topaz

It’s not yet clear whether these will be serialised, pack-limited, or inserted as rare parallels. Cardsmiths has not confirmed if these will apply to the full checklist or only select characters.

Closing Thought
With 120 base cards, a broader mix of Gemstone Refractors, and a growing list of hard-to-track variants, Series 5 is by far the most ambitious and challenging Currency release to date. Completionists may find the set harder to master — but for focused or theme-driven collectors, this added complexity opens up new lanes.
We’ll support the full checklist and refractor mapping on launch day, along with trade, wishlist, and inventory tools tailored to Series 5.
